A band of rapidly intensifying lake effect snow will develop near Grand Island and Niagara Falls, and shift quickly south into and through the Ntown & NE suburbs into the City before morning. 2-3″ will accumulate in Niagara County due to the short duration. 4-8″ will be possible in the nearby Ntowns & NE suburbs into the City. Windy with Blowing Snow within this band. Low: 20-25. S wind shifts to SW and increases to 15-30 with gusts to 35.
THURSDAY; Heavy Lake Snow in and near the Buffalo Stowns and eastern suburbs, with occasional lake snow in the City, particularly South Buffalo. Most persistent snow will accumulate a fresh 10-20″. High: 22 hills-28. WSW: 15-30 with stronger gusts producing Whiteouts and Drifting. Lake snow will shift farther south later in the day into Ski Country, below the Buffalo Stowns. Lake snow will focus on the hilly terrain overnight and settle mainly into Chautauqua & Cattaraugus Counties.
FRIDAY; Partly Sunny, Breezy & Cold with a few light snow showers north of the southern tier. Lake snow in the southern tier will slowly diminish by afternoon. High: 22-28.
SATURDAY: Partly Sunny & Milder. Chance of a few light rain showers by evening. High: 42.
SUNDAY; Mostly Cloudy, Breezy & Milder with showers becoming more widespread in the afternoon. The rainy thaw will increase the threat of flooding and collapsed roofs where heavy snow has piled up. High: low 50s.
MONDAY; Showers & Mild, turning cooler later in the day. The flood and roof threat continues and may worsen. High: 55.
