Buffalo DPW: Cazenovia Creek ice field flowing from East Aurora and Elma

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The ice field on Cazenovia Creek began flowing downstream from East Aurora and Elma on Wednesday night, the City of Buffalo Department of Public Works said.

Officials said that the DPW, police and fire are aware of the situation and will continue to monitor conditions.

Officials said that if residents live in a flood-prone area, they are encouraged to take precautions and remove valuables from low-lying areas of your house.

A flood watch was previously issued for both Erie and Chautauqua counties from 12 p.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Saturday for potential ice-jam flooding due to expected rainfall and snow melting.

Periods of rain remain likely from Wednesday night to Friday morning, resulting in anywhere from half an inch to an inch of rain.
