BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Thousands of power outages were reported throughout western New York Wednesday morning as powerful winds whipped through the region and damaged property.
The county that saw the worst of it was Chautauqua. More than 3,700 outages were reported there around 5:30 a.m. Power had been restored to the county by 7:30 a.m.
Also affected by power outages were Erie and Niagara counties. More than 800 customers were without power in Erie while nearly 450 were without it in Niagara County.
The wind advisory began around 7 p.m. Tuesday and lasted until 1 p.m. Wednesday for Southern Erie, Chautauqua, Wyoming, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.
Wind gusts reached up to 60 mph in Dunkirk.
